51 | RACIAL JUSTICE AND EQUITY London Community Engagement As part of Weil Global DEI month in April 2021, the London office ran a series of workshops with Hopscotch, a U.K. charity that supports women of color through advocacy, employability, domiciliary care and social events. A team of 20 colleagues supported 25 unemployed women during three workshops which were designed to refresh and enhance the client’s resume, improve their interviewing skills, expose them to different careers in law and boost their confidence. In October 2021, Weil’s London office provided a two-day work experience program for young people from Power2, as well as children who are family members of Weil staff. The program consisted of a range of employability workshops (i.e., CVs, interview techniques, negotiation skills, etc.) to build confidence and knowledge of the legal sector and the broader work world. More than 21 Weil colleagues took part, directly supporting 34 young people who were also treated to an exciting behind the-scenes tour of The Rolls Building and talks from Mrs. Justice Bacon, the youngest woman ever to be appointed as a fulltime High Court judge, and Barrister Nicholas Hill. I am passionate about fighting for racial justice, including for Black, South Asian and East Asian communities. In representing the Sikh Coalition in the killings of Sikh people in Indianapolis last year, I was touched by the impact a strong lawyer can have in advocating for underserved communities. I am deeply proud of the Firm’s work to speak out against hate and violence. Together we can make a difference. Charan J. Sandhu Co-Head of Technology & IP Transactions practice New York
