Andrew I. Chizzik
Andrew Chizzik is a partner in Weil’s Private Funds practice and is based in New York. He has extensive experience representing U.S. and non-U.S. private investment fund sponsors in structuring and negotiating the terms of domestic and offshore private investment funds. In addition, he has represented private investment fund sponsors and their personnel in connection with various employment and separation agreements as well as in connection with economic sharing arrangements among such persons. Andrew also represents certain prominent limited partners in connection with their investments in private equity funds, real estate funds and venture capital funds, as well as buyers and sellers of secondary interests in private equity funds. He also advises fund sponsors generally with respect to the Federal securities laws, including the Investment Advisers Act of 1940.

Andrew’s representative clients include Brookfield Asset Management, Genstar Capital, JLL Partners, PSP and WL Ross & Co.

Andrew was named a 2023 “Dealmaker of the Year” by The American Lawyer for his lead role advising Brookfield Asset Management in the formation of Brookfield Global Transition Fund, the largest-ever private fund dedicated to supporting the transition to net-zero carbon emissions. Andrew is also ranked as a “Leading” lawyer for Fund Formation by Chambers Global and Chambers USA, where clients note “he has a deep industry knowledge in the fund world and is a valuable and trusted adviser” and “he has good commercial instincts and is a good person to call with a tricky problem.” In 2024, he was recommended for Investment Fund Formation and Management: Private Equity Funds (including Venture Capital) by Legal 500 US, where he is described as “an excellent technician” and recognized as a “Highly Regarded” lawyer for Investment Funds in the U.S. by IFLR1000 in 2024. Andrew was also named a 2023 and 2020 Fund Formation “MVP” by Law360. In 2015, Andrew was named to private funds management’s “30 Under 40” list, a survey of “the next generation of legal eagles in the private funds industry.” He is named among Lawdragon’s “500 Leading Dealmakers in America” list. 

Andrew received his J.D. from the Fordham University School of Law and his B.S. from Cornell University.
