Private Funds partner Andrew Chizzik has been featured as a Law360 Fund Formation MVP, one of just five attorneys to receive the honor nationwide.

The publication highlighted Andrew’s recent representations of Genstar Capital on a $12.6 billion buyout fund, and Brookfield Asset Management on its $15 billion Global Transition Fund.

Discussing the latter fund raise, Andrew said: “This was a unique project given that it was Brookfield's first impact fund and the largest of its kind by a significant margin with a variety of complex issues.”

He noted that working on the fund required him to “learn the language” of environmental, social and corporate governance standards as well as the regulatory schemes of various jurisdictions.

“While I'm used to looking for creative ways to work through issues with clients and investors alike, this was a whole new area for us to master,” he said, referring to the team that advised Brookfield.  

Andrew told the publication that his proudest moment in the last year was the closing of Genstar Capital Partners XI LP fund.

“It was the culmination of so much hard work for such a fantastic team here at Weil, and I was so proud of the end result,” he said.
