Law360 has named Private Equity partner Brian Parness one of its 2024 “Rising Stars” for Private Equity in recognition of his significant career accomplishments.
Brian was honored for several achievements, including guiding TPG on its $2.7 billion acquisition of Angelo Gordon as well as its $1 billion IPO. His representation of Brookfield Asset Management in its spin out from its parent company, Brookfield Corp., and subsequent listing on the New York and Toronto stock exchanges was also highlighted.
He told the publication that moments that stand out are when clients contact him and note Weil’s expertise as necessary for the success of a transaction.
"Being someone's first call to help solve their most complex matters gives an enormous sense of pride,” he said.
Law360 also highlighted Brian’s work in the area of mergers and acquisitions, which he noted was similar to advising financial sponsors on their transactions.
"They are both team sports," Brian explained. "So much of the job is process and project management. And that requires operating across a large team of individuals, getting them to row in the same direction. I really love and thrive on being a captain of that team."
