Kyle Krpata, Co-Head of Weil’s U.S. Private Equity practice, and Edward Reines, Co-Head of Weil’s Patent Litigation and Life Sciences practices, have been named among the “Top 100 Lawyers” in California for 2023 by the Daily Journal.

In a profile, the publication called Kyle, “the go-to transactional lawyer for numerous private equity firms and companies,” while noting that “his dealmaking skills have helped California become the capital of innovation across many industries.”

The Daily Journal also highlighted his work advising the Gores Group and its affiliates on seven special purpose acquisition company mergers since 2020, totaling nearly $55 billion in deal value.

Edward, in a separate profile, was recognized for his work in intellectual property disputes related to biotechnology and genomics matters. His recent wins for Synthego, which resulted in the invalidation of two of its competitor’s patents, and CareDx, where the jury found a rival intentionally and willfully engaged in false advertising, were featured.

This is the third consecutive year the Daily Journal has honored Edward with this award, and follows his earlier recognition by the publication as one of the 2023 “Top IP Lawyers” in California.
