Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Director Meredith Moore has been named among the “Top Diversity and Inclusion Officers” by Crain’s New York Business. She is among just five finalists for the award at the inaugural Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Awards, which highlight the individuals and businesses successfully advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in New York City.
Meredith was profiled in Crain’s for her achievements at Weil and leadership in the legal community. The publication noted the innovative and effective diversity initiatives she has helped launch, including Weil’s Taskforce on Women’s Engagement & Retention, the Upstander@Weil ally initiative, recent racial justice and antiracism efforts, and an annual mandatory diversity training requirement for all attorneys and staff. The annual training is now in its tenth year and each year’s program is highly participatory and attuned to contemporary issues and developments.
“The expectation is that you regularly build on and reaffirm your commitment as a professional working at Weil,” Meredith told Crain’s.
The profile also highlighted the impact Meredith’s work has had in increasing the diversity of the Firm, in particular the ongoing effort to develop female lawyers and attorneys of color into leadership positions.
“We really started focusing more on advancement,” Meredith said. “We’ll be able to do our best work and deliver for our clients the more we broaden the conception of what it means to be diverse.”
The winners of the Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Awards will be announced at a virtual ceremony on July 15, 2021.
