Financial News has named Managing Partner of Weil’s London office Michael Francies and global Private Equity practice Co-Head Marco Compagnoni to its second annual list of the “Fifty Most Influential Lawyers.” The list recognizes the top business lawyers in Europe and the U.K., including senior lawyers in leadership positions, managing partners and leaders of practice areas such as M&A, financial regulation, private equity deals and fund formation.
Mike is recognized for his leadership of Weil’s London office, which FN noted as one of the most profitable U.S.-headquartered firms in the City, along with his role in positioning the Firm at the top of the European private equity market. The publication also highlighted Mike’s recent work advising Lone Star Funds on the €5.2 billion sale of MBCC Group and the acquisition of McCarthy Stone, and on Blackstone’s investment in Dynamo Software.
Marco is recognized as “a key player in Europe’s buyouts markets for the past three decades,” as well as his development of the Firm’s European Private Equity practice and its “significantly expanded and diversified” roster of clients. Marco is also noted for advising leading private equity firms, including Advent International, Providence Equity Partners, OMERS, PSP and Bain Capital on their most sophisticated transactions.
Mike was also recognized among FN’s “Most Influential Lawyers” for 2021, while Marco was named among FN’s “Most Influential in Private Equity” for 2020.
