Financial News has named Managing Partner of Weil’s London office Michael Francies and global Private Equity practice Co-Head Marco Compagnoni to its third annual list of the “Fifty Most Influential Lawyers.”

Mike was noted for leading the growth of Weil’s London office as well as its recent string of high-profile lateral hires. FN also honored Mike for leading a team dedicated to environmental, social and governance strategies and promoting policies aimed at increasing diversity, equity and inclusion, wellness, and pro bono work.

Marco was selected for his “reputation for getting complex deals over the line” and his role in expanding and diversifying Weil’s private equity client base in Europe. FN also referred to Marco’s service on the Firm’s global Management Committee and his role as chair of the board of trustees of U.K. art charity the Contemporary Art Society.

The list recognizes the top business lawyers in Europe and the U.K., including senior lawyers in leadership positions, managing partners and leaders of practice areas such as M&A, financial regulation, private equity deals and fund formation.

This is the second consecutive year both have received this honor. Mike also was recognized on FN’s “Most Influential Lawyers” list for 2021, while Marco was named to the “FN50 Most Influential in Private Equity” list for 2020. Marco also was recently named one of the 20 “Most Influential Private Equity Lawyers 2023” by Private Equity News, a sister publication to FN.
