Weil received two recognitions at the 2024 Financial Times North America Innovative Lawyers Awards, held in New York City on December 9, 2024.

The Firm was honored twice in the “Practice of Law – Innovative Lawyers in the Technology Sector” category. Weil was “Highly Commended” for acting as global antitrust counsel to Microsoft in its $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Inc., developer of the Call of Duty franchise, Candy Crush and other popular video games. The publication noted that the Firm helped guide Microsoft through merger processes in 17 jurisdictions around the world. The deal closed in October 2023.

Additionally, Weil was “Commended” for advising cryptocurrency mining company Core Scientific in its chapter 11. The Restructuring Department guided Core through its bankruptcy proceedings, resulting in a reduction of debt by $400 million and its relisting on the Nasdaq stock exchange. Core emerged from chapter 11 in January 2024.
