Biography

Sherry Safavi
Sherry Safavi is an associate in Weil’s Complex Commercial Litigation practice. She focuses on litigating a wide range of disputes encompassing fiduciary duty, antitrust, fraud, privacy, securities, qui tam, and restructuring matters in state and federal courts nationwide, including in the appellate context, and internal and government investigations.

Her recent experience includes serving on Weil teams representing:

  • A global payment processor in an antitrust litigation in Texas federal court
  • ICBC Standard Bank in successfully recovering $230 million in business interruption insurance proceeds in a heavily contested litigation arising out of a fire at the Philadelphia Energy oil refinery
  • A provider of emergency air ambulance services in connection with a False Claims Act investigation
  • A number of media and other companies in consumer class actions in courts around the country, as well as mass arbitrations, involving alleged violations of the Video Privacy Protection Act, California’s Invasion of Privacy Act, and other privacy statutes
  • A government contractor in connection with federal False Claims Act investigation

Sherry also has an active pro bono practice at the trial and appellate level, including serving on Weil teams representing and counseling clients on issues related to reproductive rights, involuntary detention, and jury selection.

Sherry received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where she served as a Research Assistant and Law Fellow. She received her B.A. in Philosophy from Colorado College, where she was Co-President of Roots & Shoots, a student organization focused on fostering environmental awareness in at-risk children.
