Restructuring partner Andriana Georgallas has been named one of Law360’s 2023 “Rising Stars” for Bankruptcy in recognition of her expertise and accomplishments advising on complex restructurings.
Law360 profiled Andriana, one of just five Bankruptcy honorees nationwide, highlighting her work representing syncreon Group Holdings and its affiliates in its $1.1 billion restructuring and an ad hoc group of secured noteholders in the $740 million restructuring of Nautical Solutions.
Andriana told the publication that the syncreon case has so far been the biggest case of her career. The restructuring was uncommon due to the company’s “very unique” cross-border structure in the U.S. and Canada. She was part of the team that created a plan that included the first-ever use of an English scheme to restructure debt by a U.S.-based company and the first time such a scheme was recognized in Canada.
"It was a trailblazing case of many firsts, which is really the best part of what we get to do, which is craft creative solutions for our clients and make the impossible possible," she told Law360.
The publication also highlighted why she decided to become a restructuring lawyer, explaining that it presents new challenges daily and allows her to practice various types of law because bankruptcy attorneys take on some of the responsibilities of litigators and corporate lawyers at times.
"Restructuring is really the only practice where you can merge all of those interests, be a litigator by day and a deal maker by night, and in essence have it all," she said.
