Global Litigation Co-Chair David Lender has been featured as a Law360 Trials MVP, one of just five attorneys nationwide to receive the honor.
The publication noted his victories for ExxonMobil and GoodRx. He represented the latter in an arbitration against health tech startup Famulus Health, in which David secured a $55.5 million judgment for GoodRx after the trial proceedings.
Following the win, David noted that Famulus’ subsequent bankruptcy filing made it even more challenging to secure the award.
“I argued it all, including in the bankruptcy,” he told Law360. “It's the hardest thing to do, is collect on a judgment. Getting the judgment is just the first step along the way.” The award has since been confirmed, Law360 noted.
David’s success in securing a settlement for plaintiff minor league baseball clubs in cases challenging Major League Baseball’s restructuring of its minor league system, and in turn, its 100-year-old antitrust exemption, as well as his victory in protecting AIG’s corporate name from multibillion-dollar trademark litigation, were also highlights of his work over the past year.
David said he is “particularly proud” that his second chair in each of his trials is usually an up-and-coming younger lawyer. He said junior attorneys should make a point to get themselves noticed by volunteering for work, getting involved and showing initiative.
“Own the cases, because if you show initiative, you're going to get opportunities before other people.”
