Private Funds partner James Bromley has been named among the “40 Under 40: Future Leaders of Private Equity 2023” by Private Equity International. The series recognizes the top professionals under the age of 40 across the private equity industry globally. James is one of just six lawyers listed in this year’s ranking and the only private funds lawyer.
Private Equity International highlighted that “in the last 12 months alone, he has led eight first-time fund closes, advised on the launch of five new private equity firms, and spearheaded five GP-stake mandates.” The publication reported that “in addition to co-leading some of the group’s largest transatlantic client relationships, Bromley has advised on notable fund, firm and strategy launches, including Generation Investment Management on the establishment of its climate-focused investment business, Just Climate.”
James was chosen from more than 200 nominations to assemble the class of 2023, which includes individuals who stood out for their drive, leadership qualities, passion for innovation and technical skill. The individuals recognized are grouped across five different categories, including: investors, fundraisers, dealmakers, operators and lawyers.
James’s award marks the latest industry recognition for the London Private Funds Group in 2023. Others have included short-listings for The Drawdown Awards 2023 in the “Legal: Fund Formation” category as well as for the Private Equity International Law Firm of the Year in Europe (Fund Formation) Award 2022 – and follows quickly off the back of New York Private Funds partner Andrew Chizzik’s recognition as “Dealmaker of the Year” by The American Lawyer, reflecting the Weil Private Funds group’s position as the leading adviser for the most innovative and strategically important funds mandates in the market. Weil was also profiled by Law360 as a 2022 “Private Equity Practice Group of the Year.”
