Law360 has named Weil among its 2024 “Mergers & Acquisitions Groups of the Year” for leading several of the largest deals of the past year, one of just five firms recognized nationwide.
The publication highlighted Weil’s representations of The Home Depot in its $18.25 billion acquisition of SRS Distribution; Sunoco in its $7.3 billion all-equity purchase of NuStar Energy; Cedar Fair in its $8 billion merger of equals with Six Flags; and Viterra shareholders in their $18 billion business combination with Bunge Ltd. Law360 also noted Weil’s work advising ChampionX in its $8 billion sale to SLB.
Weil prides itself on its high percentage of repeat, long-term clients, as well as new clients that seek it out to assist with individual deals, Law360 noted.
"We approach every relationship by really trying to understand everything there is to know about the client, because we think that enables us to bring to bear a more holistic, a more complete solution," Corporate Department Chairman Michael J. Aiello said.
Michael J. Aiello and Mergers & Acquisitions Co-Head Michael Lubowitz emphasized that Weil’s M&A practice also provides a diverse range of services, including counsel on hostile takeovers, shareholder activism and other corporate control matters.
"M&A is certainly of high importance for many of our clients, but it's not the only thing that keeps them up at night," Michael Lubowitz told Law360. "We really view ourselves as being at the top of the market as a strategic adviser."
