Crain’s New York Business has named Corporate Department Chairman Michael J. Aiello and Restructuring Department Co-Chair Matt Barr among the publication’s 2024 “Notable Leaders in Accounting, Consulting & Law.”
Michael and Matt are among 101 honorees on the list, whose “financial, strategic and legal acumen enable untold commercial activity in the region, shaping New York City’s business landscape and allowing enterprise to thrive.”
Michael was honored for his leadership of Weil’s Corporate Department, including overseeing 26 transaction and finance practices. Crain’s also highlighted his work advising The Home Depot in its $18.25 billion acquisition of SRS Distribution, which closed in just three months and was the largest exit of a private equity asset to a strategic buyer to date.
In addition to co-leading the Restructuring Department, Matt was recognized for guiding many of the largest bankruptcies of the past decade, including his recent work in guiding Talen Energy’s $5 billion chapter 11. The publication noted how Matt struck critical deals with creditor groups and used novel restructuring and capital raising strategies to reduce Talen’s debt and pay creditors.
Crain’s New York Business editors selected nominees based on their demonstrated accomplishments, professional success and meaningful contributions to their respective industries.
