Corporate Department Chairman Michael J. Aiello and Mergers & Acquisitions partner Eoghan Keenan have been recognized as 2025 “Dealmakers of the Year” by The American Lawyer magazine – one of the most prestigious awards in the legal industry.
The publication featured the two partners for advising The Home Depot in its $18.25 billion acquisition of SRS Distribution, Inc. – 2024’s largest retail deal and The Home Depot’s largest-ever acquisition. Together, Michael and Eoghan executed this sprawling, nationwide transaction in under 30 days from commencement of substantive engagement, a timetable driven by the powerful strategic opportunity and intense competition to acquire this desirable and growing business.
To deliver the transaction – also one of the largest-ever private equity exits – Michael and Eoghan led a broad-based Weil team spanning multiple disciplines across all facets. They led negotiations on deal terms and advised on overall business strategy, risk minimization, compensation and financing, among other challenges. SRS Distribution’s size and structure as a privately-held entity with 760 branches in 47 states also created formidable timing and management control hurdles.
In discussing the uniqueness of this transaction, Michael and Eoghan underscored the compressed timing and competitive nature of the deal, as well as the importance of making sure the client was “positioned to really hit the ground running on day one.” To read the full article, click here.
