Employment partner Rebecca Sivitz has been named one of Law360’s 2024 “Rising Stars” for Employment in recognition of her broad achievements representing clients in significant litigation and transactional matters during her career.
Rebecca told Law360 that the biggest cases in her career include advising The Kroger Company in relation to its pending $24.6 billion merger with Albertsons Companies and The Home Depot in its $18 billion acquisition of SRS Distribution. Initially working on the deal side of the Kroger-Albertsons merger, Rebecca noted she also has played a significant role representing the company in related litigation brought by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission challenging the deal.
This was the first time the FTC alleged a merger would reduce competition for employees and dilute collective bargaining power of the union representing them, Law360 highlighted. Her work advising Western Global Airlines in connection with its $500 million restructuring, which also involved complex labor law issues and union negotiations, also was highlighted in the article.
Rebecca also said that she takes pride in working with younger associates, “watching them grow and learn and be able to really meaningfully contribute to the matters that we're working on.”
She added that expanding Weil’s Employment Practice group, and providing an example for other women attorneys, especially in what has historically been a male-dominated labor relations space, are particularly motivating goals for her.
