NEW YORK, APRIL 1, 2025: International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced today that Tom Hashagen has returned to the Firm as a partner in the Banking & Finance practice, based in the New York office.
“We are thrilled to welcome Tom back to Weil,” said Weil Executive Partner Barry Wolf. “His knowledge of the Firm, his extensive experience at a leading global financial institution and his expertise advising on financing transactions of all types make him an ideal addition to our partnership.”
“Tom’s practice aligns perfectly with the evolving needs of our Banking & Finance group,” said Michael J. Aiello, Chairman of Weil’s Corporate Department. “His lender-side experience will allow us to strengthen the support we offer our clients across an array of sophisticated financing transactions that require tailored solutions.”
“We know Tom well and are excited to have him rejoin the team as we continue to strengthen and build our practice,” said Justin D. Lee, Co-Head of Weil’s Banking & Finance Group. “Tom will help us to serve the financing needs of institutional lenders and private credit providers, including new issuances and complex liability management exercises. His results-driven focus, commitment to teamwork and dedication to top client service make him a great cultural fit with Weil.”
Tom rejoins Weil from The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., where he was a Managing Director and head of the Americas Loan Negotiation Group in the Global Banking & Markets division, handling a variety of transactions while supervising a team of dedicated professionals. He began his career as a lawyer in Weil’s Banking & Finance practice in New York.
Today’s announcement is part of an ongoing expansion of Weil’s Banking & Finance practice. Weil recently announced that sponsor-side leader Tom Mastoras rejoined the Firm from A&O Shearman. In December, lender-side leader Meredith Mackey joined Weil’s Banking & Finance practice from Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP.
“I am delighted to rejoin the Weil family as the Firm continues to build upon its lender-side platform and global Banking & Finance practice overall,” said Tom. “I’m looking forward to working with my Weil colleagues to help our clients unlock new business opportunities.”
