Weil was honored for its “generous and unwavering support” of the Central Park Conservancy at the 41st Annual Frederick Law Olmsted Awards Luncheon, which took place on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at the New York Conservatory Garden.
Hosted by the Central Park Conservancy Women’s Committee, the luncheon brought together a broad group of philanthropists, benefactors and sponsors with a passion for preserving and enhancing Central Park.
Weil has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Conservancy for decades, providing over 10,000 hours of pro bono legal services since the 1980s. Executive Partner Barry Wolf, who serves as a member of the Conservancy’s Board of Trustees, joined with M&A partner Eoghan Keenan to accept this award on the Firm’s behalf.
“It has been an honor to have had the great legal minds at Weil guiding our work through the years, starting with Ira M. Millstein, Esq., former Board Chair and Life Trustee of the Conservancy,” the Committee wrote in its invitation letter.
Also honored at this special event was Yesim Philip, former Women's Committee President, who guided the Committee through the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, the Committee recognized the contributions of the Conservancy's historian emerita, Sara Cedar Miller, who has chronicled the history of Central Park and the Conservancy through photography and award-winning books since 1984.
The Women’s Committee provides direct support to the Conservancy, and every year raises funds for the general operations of the Park. The Committee is responsible for the management of many park-wide programs, including: Adopt-A-Bench, Conservancy Docents, Gilder Run paving stone program, Olmsted Visionaries planned giving program, Perimeter Association, Playground Partners, Tree Trust and Blooms donations.
