Weil to Augment Market-Leading Infrastructure Practice with Finance Hire

LONDON, January 16, 2025: International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced today that Simon Caridia will join the Firm as a partner in its London Finance Practice.

Specializing in the infrastructure space for almost 25 years, Simon advises industry sponsors, infrastructure and private equity funds, commercial bank lenders, multilateral agencies and institutional investors on acquisitions, refinancings and restructurings, including in distressed debt situations. He also has considerable experience in greenfield project finance.

“Simon is an exceptional lawyer, and we are delighted to welcome him to the Firm,” said Weil’s Executive Partner Barry Wolf. “He brings a huge amount of experience in the infrastructure market and excellent technical expertise.”

Tom Richards, co-head of Weil’s London Finance Practice, said: “Simon’s recruitment is a strong commitment to reinforce Weil’s position as a global leader in finance and infrastructure deals. Infrastructure clients demand integrated practice capabilities, and Simon has that level of excellence we need to service the financing needs of our client portfolios.”

“Infrastructure is one of the most dynamic sectors both in the UK and internationally and we expect that institutional investors’ appetite for infrastructure assets will continue to grow in 2025 and beyond,” added Brendan Moylan, partner in Weil’s Private Equity Infrastructure team. “We look forward to Simon starting and further strengthening our ability to serve clients on their most important and complex matters.”

Simon is the latest partner to join Weil’s market-leading finance practice, following the arrival of former Goldman Sachs credit finance head Nicola Noël this month. In 2021 and 2023, the Firm built out its infrastructure capability with industry leaders Murray Cox and Brendan Moylan.

Weil’s integrated, top-flight capabilities across infrastructure finance, private equity and private funds are a significant driver behind the Firm’s position advising the 10 largest global infrastructure investors (Infrastructure Investor 100: 2024). In the last 12 months, the team has advised some of world’s most significant infrastructure investors, including GIP, InfraBridge, Antin Infrastructure, Igneo Infrastructure Partners and OMERS Infrastructure.
