Abgail Kalonga

She advises private equity sponsors, corporates, financial institutions, funds and direct lenders on a wide range of multi-jurisdictional financings, debt restructurings and other complex transactions, with a particular emphasis on cross-border acquisition and leveraged finance.

Abgail trained at Weil and has previously spent six months on secondment to Credit Suisse’s London office working with their leveraged finance transaction execution group.

Representative experience, as part of a team, includes acting for:

• Howden on the amendment and restatement of its existing credit agreement, the establishment of a new $2.925 billion first-lien dollar term loan and a new €900 million first-lien euro term loan, along with the increase of its revolving credit facility to £630 million
• Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board on its portfolio company Busy Bees on various matters, including its refinancing and Holdco PIK financing
• Bain Capital on the financing of its acquisition of the Kantar business from WPP plc 
• Bain Capital on the financing of its acquisition of the Valeo Foods business 
• Advent International on the financing of various acquisitions as well as refinancings, recapitalisations and bids including the take privates of Cobham plc and Laird PLC; and the carve out acquisition of GE’s Distributed Power business (Innio)
• Lone Star on its refinancing of  the McCarthy & Stone Group
• Lone Star on its refinancing of the XSYS Group
• Montagu Private Equity on its acquisition of ISI Emerging Markets Group
• Permira on the financing of its acquisition of the Hana Group
• Lenders on the financing of the acquisition of Macrobond
• Lenders on the financing of Parks of Poland
• Lead arrangers on the refinancing of the Verisure Group
• Morgan Stanley, Danske, DNB, and another major financial institution as arrangers, in connection with the senior secured facilities to Sector Alarm
• Lead arrangers on the refinancing of the Thunderhead Group
