Kara Smith is an associate in Weil’s Complex Commercial Litigation practice, where she focuses on litigating a broad range of disputes in state and federal courts nationwide.
Kara’s recent experience includes serving on Weil teams representing:
- A major mattress maker in its litigation-related chapter 11 restructuring
- The Special Master for the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware in connection with enforcing judgments for billions of dollars against an international oil company.
- An air medical emergency transport company in a False Claims Act litigation
- Other major companies in their litigation-related restructuring issues
Kara also maintains an active pro bono practice, and has been a member of Weil teams representing pro bono clients on issues related to criminal appeals, resentencing, and Habeas Corpus proceedings.
Kara received her J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she was Articles Editor for N.Y.U Law Review. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Science from McGill University.
