Michael McDonald
Michael McDonald is counsel in the Banking & Finance group in the London office of Weil.

His experience includes advising banks, credit funds and financial sponsors on leveraged finance, general corporate finance, real estate finance and project finance.

He has, as part of a team, acted for a range of financial institutions, sponsors and corporates of various sizes on a range of financings, including domestic and cross-border syndicated, club/bilateral and private credit transactions involving several jurisdictions.

Michael has previously spent time on secondment to Goldman Sachs Asset Wealth Management and Ares working with their private credit origination team.

Representative experience as part of a team includes advising:

  • Ares on the refinancing of TalkTalk Telecom Group and the financing of Pollen Street’s merger of the Markerstudy Group and Atlanta Group
  • Goldman Sachs Asset Wealth Management on their financing of Insight Partners’ acquisition of AMCS
  • The arrangers in relation to the refinancing of CVC's portfolio company, Domestic & General
  • Acting for lenders in relation to CVC’s acquisition of System C
  • Acting for lenders in relation to Apax’s acquisition of PIB and separately the post-IPO financing for Apax’s portfolio company Baltic Classifieds Group
  • The arrangers and underwriters in relation to One Rock Capital Partners’ bid for Constantia Flexibles
  • Tikehau in connection with PIK financing to support Ardian’s acquisition of Dedalus
  • Permira Credit on financing of the acquisition of Atman by Goldman Sachs
  • Seadrill’s $5bn Chapter 11 debt restructuring
  • Advent International on the partnership with the founder of the Parfums de Marly and INITIO Parfums Privés niche fragrance brands; the carve-out of GE’s Distributed Power business (Innio) and its acquisition of Circet
  • Ardian and Neuberger Berman on the financing of their acquisition of Neopharmed
  • OTPP on the refinancing of its portfolio company Busy Bees and additional facilities for future bolt-on acquisitions
  • Montagu’s financing of DEAS and various portfolio matters
  • Oaktree on the refinancing of Unavets
  • Europa Capital on various real estate financing transactions

Prior to joining Weil, Michael was a member of the Banking & Finance team at a leading UK firm.
