Walter McNeill retired from the partnership in 2001. He was a partner in the New York office and served as the head of the Structured Finance & Derivatives Group. Between 2001 and 2005, he acted as an independent consultant (and an expert witness) for various law firms in New York and Washington D.C.
Walter was one of the pioneers of securitization, having practiced in the area for more than 30 years. He has been responsible for many innovations in the field, including the first privately issued CMO, the first true asset-backed offering, the first automobile loan securitization, and a host of other first-time offerings.
He has been a frequent lecturer at structured finance and banking seminars in the United States and abroad, and he has co-authored a number of articles on structured finance.
