WASHINGTON, D.C., JANUARY 13, 2025: International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced today that former U.S. Department of Justice litigator and trial attorney Meagan Bellshaw has joined the Firm as a partner in the Antitrust practice, based in the Washington, D.C. office.
At the Department of Justice, Meagan most recently served as Assistant Chief in the Antitrust Division’s Financial Services, Fintech & Banking Section, overseeing the group’s civil merger and non-merger investigations and litigation. Her career experience at the Department, where she has worked since 2017, spans multiple industries including financial services, technology, insurance, media, telecommunications, publishing, entertainment, agriculture and sports.
“As Weil continues to take on the most demanding, highest-stakes antitrust cases, Meagan will be a powerful advocate for our clients,” said Weil Executive Partner Barry Wolf. “We’re delighted to welcome her to Weil as we continue expanding our top-tier Antitrust capabilities.”
“Meagan is a highly regarded antitrust litigator who has held leadership roles in several of the Antitrust Division’s most complex and challenging cases,” said David Lender, Co-Chair of Weil’s global Litigation Department. “Her experience as one of the government’s go-to trial lawyers will be invaluable to our clients.”
“Meagan’s wide-ranging DOJ background and winning record make her a formidable addition to our team,” said Brianne Kucerik, Co-Head of Weil’s Antitrust practice in the U.S. “Her high-profile victories across diverse industries demonstrate her versatility and excellence at trial. She will be an enormous asset to our clients navigating today’s dynamic regulatory and private civil litigation environment.”
Meagan’s arrival follows the recent additions of two former U.S. Federal Trade Commission officials: Mark Seidman, former head of the FTC’s Mergers IV Division, and Jasmine Rosner, former senior corporate counsel at Amazon, who was earlier an FTC attorney focused on merger and non-merger investigations and enforcement actions. Both are now partners in Weil’s Antitrust practice, based in Washington, D.C.
“I have been consistently impressed by Weil’s Antitrust team and the results they obtain for clients in industry-defining cases,” said Meagan. “I look forward to working alongside these distinguished colleagues as Weil continues to build upon its exceptional Antitrust practice.”
