Biography
Alex Dobyan is an associate in Weil’s Tax Department and is based in Washington, D.C. Alex participates in the representation of Firm clients with respect to the tax aspects of a wide range of corporate transactions, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and financing transactions.
Alex has been part of the teams advising:
- Brookfield Asset Management in the listing of a 25% interest in Brookfield Asset Management Ltd, resulting in a standalone asset management business with a $50 billion market capitalization as of the separation date
- Sanofi SA in its pending acquisition of Provention Bio Inc. (PRVB) for $2.9 billion in cash and its approximately $2.2 billion acquisition of Inhibrx, Inc.
- Scandinavian Airlines in connection with its global restructuring and chapter 11 reorganization
Prior to joining Weil, Alex was part of KPMG’s Washington National Tax Corporate Group based in Washington, D.C.
Alex received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Michigan State University, where he served as Articles Editor for the Michigan State International Law Review, his LL.M., with honors, from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, and his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Richmond.
