A.J. Green

A.J. Green is a senior associate in Weil’s Complex Commercial Litigation practice group, where he focuses his practice on business litigation, including breach of contract, insurance, antitrust, bankruptcy, and other commercial disputes. 

A.J. has experience advising clients on complex commercial issues and litigating high-stakes cases at both the trial and appellate levels. A.J. has litigated in a number of state and federal courts across the country and worked on teams representing clients such as ICBC Standard Bank Plc, PG&E Corporation, Grubhub Inc., The Carlyle Group, New York City Regional Center, and LBI Media Inc., among others. A.J.’s experience includes conducting depositions, drafting dispositive motions and appellate briefs, presenting arguments in court, preparing expert witnesses, and managing discovery. 

Some of A.J.’s recent notable experience includes serving on Weil teams that:

  • Won the complete dismissal of a $50M+ mass action fraud and fiduciary duty lawsuit brought against New York City Regional Center (NYCRC) by over a hundred EB-5 investors.
  • Recovered hundreds of millions of dollars in business interruption insurance proceeds for ICBC Standard Bank Plc in a heavily contested insurance adversary proceeding against more than two dozen insurance carriers arising from the June 2019 explosion at the Philadelphia Energy Solutions refinery;
  • Served as bankruptcy litigation counsel for PG&E Corp. and Pacific Gas & Electric Co. in the companies’ joint chapter 11 cases, including in disputes involving significant monetary claims and various chapter 11 plan confirmation issues; and
  • Defended LBI Media Inc. against breach of contract and related claims brought by a group of second-lien noteholders arising out of the company’s first-lien refinancing.

In 2022 and 2023, A.J. was recognized as a New York Metro Rising Star by Super Lawyers in the area of business litigation.

A.J. also maintains an active pro bono practice. His experience includes:

  • Helping an elderly woman recover her home after she was allegedly induced into executing a deed of sale under the guise of obtaining a loan modification;
  • Securing approval of an I-130 immigration petition that allowed an Iraqi refugee, his wife, and two children to resettle in the United States; and
  • Obtaining reasonable accommodations for multiple individuals with physical disabilities at their New York City residences.

A.J. received his B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Villanova University and his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, where he was an associate editor on the Fordham Law Review and an executive board member on the Moot Court Board. Prior to joining Weil, A.J. interned for the Office of the General Counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
