Dan Baquet
Daniel Baquet is an associate in Weil’s Antitrust practice, where he focuses on transactional regulatory clearance and government investigations, as well as civil antitrust and class action litigation.

Daniel’s recent experience includes serving on Weil teams representing:

  • Hilton Worldwide in the Online Hotel Booking Antitrust Litigation, a federal action filed against Hilton and other major hotel chains alleging that defendant hotel companies conspired to eliminate competition for branded keyword search advertising and seeking damages and injunctive relief under the Sherman Act.
  • Alpek, an ALFA subsidiary and leading global chemical manufacturing company based in Mexico, in its $620 million acquisition of OCTAL Holding SAOC.
  • Alfa S.A.B. de C.V. in the formation of Corpus Christi Polymers LLC (CCP), a joint venture among industry participants, and CCP’s $1.1 billion acquisition of an under-construction PET-PTA production facility in Corpus Christi, TX from M&G USA Corp.
  • Sanofi in its ~$3.2 billion acquisition of Provention Bio, Inc., the maker of TZIELD, the first disease-modifying treatment for the delay of Stage 3 type 1 diabetes.
  • Norfolk Southern in the U.S. Surface Transportation Board proceeding analyzing Canadian Pacific Railway’s $31 billion acquisition of Kansas City Southern and defending Norfolk Southern’s joint venture with Kansas City Southern from an unfounded attack by CSX Transportation in the same proceeding.
  • A major technology company in a high-profile matter regarding a global business agreement with another technology industry company.

Daniel received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at the University of Virginia, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. He earned his B.S. in Economics and International Business and B.A. in Spanish at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
