Biography
Doug Illsley is an associate in Weil’s Real Estate practice and is based in New York. Doug participates in the representation of Firm clients with respect to mergers, acquisitions and divestitures for real estate related companies.
Doug has been part of the teams advising:
- Alliance Bernstein in numerous loan modifications
- Blackstone in several financing transactions related to the purchase of various property types
- Digital Realty Trust, Inc. in definitive agreements with Brookfield Infrastructure Partners L.P. and its institutional partners, Cyxtera Technologies and Digital Core REIT, that successfully resolve the relationships with Cyxtera, including its (i) $459 million sale of four data centers located in California and New Jersey, (ii) $44 million purchase and termination of three of Cyxtera’s leases in Germany and Singapore, (iii) assignment to Brookfield of three leases in Los Angeles and New Jersey and (iv) purchase option to acquire from Brookfield one colocation center outside of London
- Eli Lilly & Company in its acquisition of a manufacturing facility located in Pleasant Prairie, WI
- Fortress Investment Group, as lender, in a construction loan to Kushner Companies to finance the development of a multifamily residential building in Fair Lawn, New Jersey
- The Home Depot in its $18.25 billion acquisition of SRS Distribution Inc.
- The Kroger Company, along with The Albertsons Companies, Inc., in the approximately $1.9 billion sale of 413 stores, as well as select banners, distribution centers, offices and private label brands, to C&S Wholesale Grocers, LLC in connection with Kroger’s proposed merger with Albertsons Companies Inc.
- SoftBank Group Corp. and SoftBank Vision Fund II in transactions related to debt and equity investments in WeWork, Inc.
Doug joined Weil as a summer associate in 2021.
Doug is also active in the Firm’s pro bono initiatives representing a low-income tenant facing illegal housing conditions.
Doug received his J.D., cum laude, from Boston University School of Law, where he served as an Editor on the Boston University Law Review, and his B.A., with distinction, from the University of Colorado.
