James Crook is a Structured Finance & Derivatives counsel in London.
James advises a range of financial institutions, private equity sponsors and hedge funds on a wide range of structured finance and securitisation transactions including performing and non-performing portfolio acquisitions and financings, RMBS, CLOs, OTC derivatives transactions and esoteric asset classes. He has also, as part of a team, advised a number of issuers and underwriters in various domestic and international equity and debt capital markets transactions across a range of industries.
James has also undertaken secondments at a European bank and a global credit fund.
Representative experience includes advising:
- Major financial institutions and global investment firms on non-performing and performing loan portfolio acquisitions and financings of consumer and commercial debt across Europe
- A portfolio company of a global investment firm on the private securitisation of equipment lease receivables guaranteed under the UK Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme
- Public and private securitisations including RMBS and CLOs; acting as both originator/borrower and arranger/lender counsel
- Private securitisation of television franchise rights and IP
