Biography
Sophie Smith is a partner in the Private Funds Group in Weil’s London office. She advises a wide range of global fund managers on the establishment and day-to-day operation of private investment funds, managed accounts and co-investment platforms across multiple strategies, including private equity, real estate and credit. Sophie has extensive experience advising clients on ESG and impact related matters and also advises institutional investors in connection with their investments in private equity funds and other private investment funds.
Clients for whom Sophie has recently acted for include Alpine Grove Partners, Ares Management, Global Logistics Partners, Livingbridge, Montagu Private Equity, Pegasus Capital Advisors, Pollen Street Capital, Principal Real Estate, Sixth Street Partners, TPG and Vedra Partners Limited.
Sophie has been named among Europe’s 25 best up-and-coming private equity lawyers by Law.com in 2022 and a Legal Rising Star by Private Funds CFO 2023. She was also named Next Generation Partner by Legal 500 2021.
